Coursebook

A coursebook is a textbook that teachers use, usually, students have one too, and it is used to follow systematically a basis for language course.

There are some criterias against the use of coursebooks, like :
-          Inadequacy (can’t supply learning needs).
-          Irrelevance, lack of interest  ( not necessary or relevant).
-          Limitacion ( Inhibit teacher’s initiative).
-          Homogeneity ( Lack of variety of levels),& Over-easiness (Too easy).


Assesing a coursebook

Here is a general criteria for assesing language-learning coursebooks.The teacher can mark the importance of each criteria, and also write opinions or notes about it. Finally the teacher can make a general summary or evaluation of the coursebook.

What is a syllabus ?


      A syllabus is an outline and summary of topics to be covered in an education or training course. It is descriptive. A syllabus is often either set out by an exam board, or prepared by the professor who supervises or controls the course quality. It is given to the students at the first class session so they are clear with the objectives of the course, dates, exams , materials for the class , etc.

Here are some types of Syllabus:
-          Notinal – functional
-          Grammatical
-          Lexical
-          Situational
-          Text-based
-          Learner-generated
-          Mixed
-          Online course

Office hours : 20 modules, 3 per week.
Course format : Classroom mode
Course requierment: Class participation

Course description: In this course, the student are going to be able to recognize and to acquire new vocabulary and grammatical structures. Also they are going to know new and different kinds of topics, and give opinion, characterize,likes and dislikes, using all of the skills to develop in the acquirement of a new language.

General Objectives:
·         -Appreciate different parts of the world, know people, give opinions about this topic.
·         -Healthy food , sports and important icons.
·        -Express thoughts and opinions in written and spoken forms.
·         -Share their own preferences.

Textbook analysis ( Class work )

In a activity we worked out in our Methodology class, we have analized different textbooks that are used in classes. The book I analized is called Identity teacher's book ( Oxford ). I analized Unit 6 called Induvidualism , I read the presentation of the activities and realized that the student works out the activities with perception , this is the understanding, recieving and collecting information given to understand and resolve a situation or situations.

Important factors for class planning .

When we are going to prepare a class, me must consider some important information for the planning. Some of these are :
-Methodology : related with strategies.
-Skills : the technical abilities we are going to develope ( reading, writing , etc).
-Objectives : main objectives for the class ( values ).
-Activities
-Strategies : the teacher is going to use for a meaningful acquisition.
-Timing : time the class lasts.
-Grouping : how many students per group are going to work together.
-Textbook : which textbook are we going to use.
-Culture : which culture we are working with.
